Blogs are great but then there’s always that delay in communication. People interested in your company often want answers – now. What else can you do?
Learn from the Army. As Gerry Crispin told me a few minutes ago, the GoArmy website is the only one he’d give a 5 out 5. Now some may say it is out of desperation that this has been part of the Army’s recruiting strategy for several years, but if you are a potential recruit and want to speak to a recruiter about anything, all you have to do is click on the “Chat with a Recruiter” link – there are defined office hours each week.
Intel has been experimenting with chat rooms for about one year primarily as a means for driving “on the cusp” candidates to speak with hiring managers. From what I hear, Intel’s use of chat rooms is still in its infancy.
Technology also exists for a recruiter to be pinged when a candidate is viewing a particular job on the company’s career site enabling the recruiter to pop-up a window and engage the candidate in real-time. Very cool.
Still, if yoou want to see what a 5 outof 5 looks like, visit the GoArmy site. It’s about the recruiting, stupid.
